Real Ghostbusters DVD Collection Shipping Now!

Time Life has the Real Ghostbusters DVD boxsets ready to ship! Those of you who did the Pre-Order will be getting free FedEx shipping, and should be getting your Complete Collection next week. Luckily, I was able to snag my copy this week and give it a look over. First and foremost... this thing ROCKS. The packaging is amazing. We all knew the Steelbook packaging would be very cool and worth the extra time and effort spent into getting it together. The artwork is great, and the quality is supurb. The Collection will look great sitting ontop of your TV, or on your Shelf!
Taking a look at the DVDs in just the short amount of time that I have spent with them so far has shown that a lot of time and effort has been placed into getthing these things made. The menus have some animations in them, as wel as artwork and graphics. The first DVD any Real Ghostbusters Fan should pop in is the Bonus Features disc. On it you will find the original Promo Pilot as well as opening and closing credits, introductions, extended interviews and more. If you happen to place the disc in your computer you will find several storyboards and other cool files in PDF format.
The special features on each of the discs are very cool. Not only do you get every episode of the Real Ghostbusters, and Slimer! and the Real Ghostbusters digitally remastered, you get episode introductions from the team that worked on the cartoon, interviews, commentary and a whole lot more. Right now I'm in the middle of watching the episode "Knock Knock" with just music and sound effects, and it is very cool to be able to hear the original music and some foley artists at work!
Time Life has been generous enough to give me a copy to GIVEAWAY to one Lucky Ghostbusters Fan. Details on how to win can be found here: http://www.gbfans.com/contest/ So please stay tuned to Ghostbusters Fans for more information. Master Replicas Announces Ghostbusters Prop Replicas

Master Replicas has announced their partial product line for Ghostbusters in 2009. It looks like we will be seeing some officially licensed 1:1 scale props that are based off of the originals at Sony's Archives, in addition to several products that are not yet announced.
"-Ghost Trap Limited Edition 1:1 scale with lights, sounds and other features. ETA: Spring 2009
-Proton Pack Limited Edition 1:1 scale with lights, sounds and other features. ETA: Fall 2009
Other products will be announced shortly. This is only the beginning!
This line is still very much in development and our “scientists” are currently hard at work on the actual processes involved in bringing these screen icons to life. We have already had direct access to original artifacts in the Sony archive and as always with Master Replicas, authenticity and accuracy are paramount and it’s important that we get the detail just right."
Many fans (prop builders in particular) are worrysome about what this will mean for those who build and sell prop replicas. The future is still uncertain as to how Master Replicas and Sony Pictures will handle things now that the lineup as been announced.

Ghostbusters: The Video Game Coming in 2009

Variety (apparently the best source for new Ghostbusters Game News) has posted a new article that states that Ghostbusters: The Video game is indeed being picked up by 80's video game giant Atari. Here is a quick snipped from the article that mentions Ghostbusters:
"Execs at Atari wouldn't comment on "Ghostbusters," but sources close to the publisher confirmed it is also picking up that game, with plans to publish it early next summer in conjunction with the film's 25th anniversary. It's believed Atari has a similar licensing deal with Sony Pictures to produce further "Ghostbusters" games should the first one prove successful.
Atari is paying Activision Blizzard a flat fee to cover a portion of the development coin Vivendi Games previously spent on [Ghostbusters The Video Game]."
Perhaps still not completely confirmed, but more and more sources (including Dan Aykroyd) have told us that Atari would infact be the publisher of Ghostbusters: The Video Game. Expect a release close to June 2009 to coincide with the 25th Aniversary of Ghostbusters!
Thanks to GBFans member rockstar232007 for the heads up.
